Integrated Community Health

Improving Community Health for a Better Tomorrow

At ÌÇÐÄVlog, we are passionate about integrating community health through
research, collaboration, and practice. Our work spans a wide range of initiatives, from
interdisciplinary research to community-driven projects, designed to transform health and
well-being. By incorporating health into policies and programs across sectors, we aim to create
lasting impacts that improve lives locally and globally.

Our Mission

Building Long-Lasting Health Solutions

We envision a future where health solutions are sustainable, accessible, and tailored to the distinct needs of communities, particularly in rural and underserved areas. By focusing on long-term strategies and leveraging innovative approaches, we aim to enhance health outcomes and promote well-being for all populations.

Empowering Communities

We are dedicated to empowering communities by providing knowledge, tools, and resources needed to improve health outcomes. Through education, innovation, and local partnerships, our goal is to create environments where individuals can make informed decisions and live healthier lives.

Strengthening the Health Workforce

We are committed to doing our part in building a skilled, resilient workforce capable of addressing emerging health threats. Through training, professional development, and other educational initiatives, we aim to equip current and future professionals with the resources needed to serve their communities across health sectors.

Research Highlights

One Health: Connecting Human, Animal, Plant, and Environmental Health

Our work embraces the One Health approach, recognizing the critical linkages between human, animal, plant, and environment health. By studying interdisciplinary topics like zoonotic disease transmission, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental influences, we develop proactive strategies to prevent outbreaks and promote global health security.

Transforming Healthcare: Advancing Research for Stronger Systems

Effective and efficient health services benefit everyone, everywhere, every day. We are dedicated to understanding and enhancing healthcare and public health delivery systems through translational population health, healthcare services, and management research. Through collaboration with the healthcare community, we aim to provide vital support to public health and healthcare organizations across the continuum of care, driving improvements in health outcomes and system performance locally and nationally.

Substance Use and Addiction: Collaborative Solutions for Lasting Change

We are dedicated to reducing the impact of addiction in Georgia and beyond through education, awareness, technical assistance, and data-driven, community-based solutions. By fostering regional partnerships, we aim to strengthen collaboration in addressing addiction-related public health challenges and supporting communities affected by addiction.

Get Involved

We invite researchers, health professionals, policymakers, and community organizations to partner with us in advancing community health. By integrating health considerations into policies and programs across sectors, we can co-create local solutions that make a global impact.

Center for Irish Research and TeachingThe Flagship Irish Studies Unit in the University System of Georgia. Founded on St. Patrick’s Day of 1995, ÌÇÐÄVlog’s Center for Irish Research and Teaching (CIRT) flies the flag for Ireland and advances Irish America in the University System of Georgia, whose 26 member institutions serve more than 340,000 students. Appropriately based in Savannah because of the city’s historic connections with Ireland, CIRT is committed to studying the identities, experiences and achievements that constitute Irishness, a concept that continues to evolve and that, at its best, enlarges the ancient Gaelic principle of flaithiúlacht (generosity). The center provides rich opportunities to Georgia Southern students and researchers around the state to study the connections between Ireland and Savannah and to provide access to primary-source research in Ireland and the United States, including the CIRT’s Lawless papers, which follow Virginia-native and Irish descendant Joseph Thomas Lawless’ involvement in the southern leg of an extensive U.S. tour by Éamon de Valera, a prominent political leader in Ireland’s history. The collection includes letters, advertisements and more that document an important narrative in modern Irish-American history.Statesboro, Armstrong, WexfordArmstrong Center, Unit #10Department of History, Department of English, Department of PhilosophyCollege of Arts and Humanitiesirish@georgiasouthern.eduHoward Keeley, Ph.D.Vibrant Communities/research/centers/irishCenter
